CAA Arts Access

Join CAA Arts Access, Columbia College, and Columbia University School of the Arts for a guided tour of this year's Whitney Biennial.

The Whitney Museum of American Art’s Biennial is an exhibition that takes place every two years and aims to highlight the work of lesser known contemporary artists of our time. The Whitney Museum of American Art announced on February 26 that seventy-five artists have been selected to present their work in the 2019 Whitney Biennial, co-organized by two Whitney curators, Jane Panetta and Rujeko Hockley '05CC.

The Whitney Biennial artists include seven Columbia University alumni - Korakrit Arunanondchai '12SOA, Alexandra Bell '13JRN, Ilana Harris-Babou '16SOA, Iman Issa '07SOA, Steffani Jemison '03CC, Ragen Moss '00CC, and Kyle Thurman '09CC. The 2019 Biennial takes the pulse of the contemporary artistic moment. Introduced by the Museum’s founder Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney in 1932, the Biennial is the longest-running exhibition in the country to chart the latest developments in American art.

Ticket price includes museum admission and guided tour with a Whitney Teaching Fellow. If you are a Whitney Museum member, you still have to register as this is a private guided tour. Please note all sales are final and non-refundable. There is a (2) two ticket max per person.

Please arrive at 3:45 p.m. to check-in with Columbia University staff. Our tours are scheduled for 4:00 p.m and 4:15 p.m. The tours will begin promptly and once they depart, it is very difficult to catch up with the group or find the group, so please allow extra travel time.
