Leiter will reflect on his service in the Clinton, George W. Bush and Obama administrations as he leads a lively discussion with alumni on major trends in national security: terrorism, cybersecurity, weapons proliferation, regional instability and how the Trump administration has dealt with these multifaceted challenges. Michael Leiter CC'91
Michael Leiter most recently served as the President of Leidos Defense, a $3 billion business unit of Leidos Holdings (LDOS), a Fortune 500 technology company based in Reston, Virginia. In this role Mike led more than 8,000 personnel who provided mission critical technology, solutions, and support to the U.S. Department of Defense and allied nations.
Previously, Mike served as Executive Vice President and Head of Integration for the merger of Leidos and Lockheed Martin?s Information Systems & Global Solutions (IS&GS), combining the two entities to produce a technology and solutions company with more than $10 billion in annual revenue and 33,000 employees. Prior to this, Mike served as the Executive Vice President for Business Development and Strategy, and the Chief Strategy Officer, where he also led Leidos? corporate development, to include the IS&GS merger. Prior to joining Leidos, Mike served as Head of Global Government & Commercial Cyber Operations of Silicon Valley-based Palantir Technologies, one of the U.S.?s largest private technology companies, which specializes in large-scale data analytics.
Before entering the private sector, Mike served as the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) from 2007 until 2011, having been nominated to the position by President George W. Bush and confirmed unanimously by the U.S. Senate. Mike was one of the few senior national security officials asked to continue in his position by President Barack Obama. As the Director of NCTC, Mike led the primary organization in the U.S. government for analysis and integration of all terrorism intelligence, both domestically and overseas, and he was intimately involved in all aspects of the operation that resulted in the death of Usama bin Laden. As NCTC?s Director, Mike reported directly to the President for strategic operational planning of all U.S. counterterrorism activities, to include the integration of military, intelligence, cyber, diplomatic, financial, and homeland security programs and operations.
Mike received his J.D. from Harvard, where he graduated magna cum laude and was President of the Harvard Law Review (Volume 113).
