Designated Priorities

Within the Annual Fund, you may designate your gift to any of the following current-use priorities:

Financial aid makes it possible for deserving students to experience the intellectual challenges, and rewards, of attending Columbia. Thanks to the generosity of alumni, family and friends of the College, more than $59 million of institutional aid reached 44% of students last year. This commitment to need-blind admissions and full-need financial aid means that students can attend Columbia regardless of their economic circumstances.

The Core Curriculum binds all Columbia alumni by laying the groundwork for lifelong learning and critical thinking. The education provided through Core classes inspires students to develop insights about themselves and the world around them. The knowledge and wisdom students derive from the Core is critical to their studies as well as to their future lives beyond the College’s campus.

Student Services provide opportunities and experiences that assist and advise students, both inside and outside of the classroom. Areas such as career education, student advising, residential life programs, clubs and organizations are all supported by gifts. Through these programs, undergraduates engage with each other and with staff to help them explore and succeed in their academic studies and extracurricular pursuits.

Internships enable students to undertake a high quality unpaid internship without financial burden, both in New York City and internationally. These summer opportunities allow students to explore potential career paths and help them gain the experience they need to succeed. This past summer, the College was able to provide stipends to students working in nine countries exploring a variety of fields including health and medicine, publishing, finance and communications.
