PROFILE
Young Lions
Why
are we printing this 13-year-old photo of a Denver boys soccer team?
To show the power of starting them off young which may be
why one of their coaches, Howard Selinger '71 (red shirt),
chose Lions for the team's nickname. Three of the 7-year-olds
in the front row are now Columbia Lions: Jeffrey Waldman '03
(second from left), Daniel Touff '04 (center) and
Gil Selinger '03 (second from right). They lost touch
after elementary school and attended different high schools: Waldman
graduated from Colorado Academy in Littleton, Colo., Touff from
Milton Academy in Cambridge, Mass., and Selinger from George Washington
H.S. in Denver. But once a Lion, always a Lion, and the three were
reunited at Columbia.
