East L.A. Interchange tells the story of working-class, immigrant, Boyle Heights, the oldest neighborhood in East Los Angeles, and how it has survived racially restrictive housing covenants, Japanese-American internment, redlining policies, the building of the largest freeway interchange system in the nation, and the current forces of gentrification. Post-film discussion with Betsy Kalin, CC '91 (Filmmaker) and Moderator Frank Guridy (Associate Professor of History, Columbia University) Co-Sponsored with the Department of History and the Institute for Research in African American Studies
