Language Intensive Focus Track (LIFT) Scholarships, offered by the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), provide support for U.S. college and university students pursuing a full year of language study in another country. In its initial year, the program will support students studying Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, or Russian.
Scholarships provide at least $5,000 per recipient and are awarded to exemplary students based on undergraduate GPA, the strength of a personal essay, and a letter of recommendation from an advisor or faculty member. To be eligible, candidates must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a four-point scale and be enrolled in a CIEE year-long language program. A report is required of recipients upon their return from their study-abroad experiences.
NOTE: Students interested in year-long study abroad programs for credit should consult with the Office of Global Programs. Please read about eligibility requirements and available programs online before meeting with a regional advisor with additional questions.
