IDEX Global Fellowships provide a six-month program for individuals seeking to gain emerging market experience while working to support enterprises that deliver social change to local and global communities. During the six-month fellowship cycle, IDEX fellows work full-time with a social enterprise partner in India and also participate in leadership development and networking opportunities. Fellows have worked on projects ranging from supporting education organizations in community outreach, to leading expansion planning for multi-city operations, to expanding the networks of health service delivery.
Fellows pay tuition of $3,500 to participate in the program, which covers pre-departure training, in-service training, and post-fellowship programming with other program alumni/ae. Housing is provided by the host organization, but the fellowship does not provide for travel to or from the host site or for daily expenses such as food and incidentals. Scholarship assistance is available to many participants but is not guaranteed for all.
Candidates may be citizens of any nationality but must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree upon beginning the fellowship, as well as one to three years of related work experience, a track record of leadership, and genuine commitment to the program’s goals.
Ideal candidates will be dedicated and self-motivated individuals with the ability to work in new and challenging environments with limited resources. They will also demonstrate practical skills, relationship-building capacity, and cultural sensitivity.
