The family and friends of Leonard M. Rieser (1922-1998), chair of the Bulletin’s Board of Directors from 1985 to 1998, established in 1999 the Leonard M. Rieser Fellowships for undergraduate students seeking to conduct research on the connections between science, technology, global security, and public policy.
Upon resuming in 2010, the fellowships will continue to honor Leonard Rieser’s dedication to helping young scholars understand these connections. The Bulletin has awarded nearly $80,000 for 22 fellowships to ambitious undergraduates since 1999.
The one-time Rieser Fellowships of $2,500-$5,000 may be used over the course of one year to support a research or professional project, either in the United States or abroad.
