New York Needs You is a mentoring and career program for first-generation college students. The program provides biweeklky career workshops in which NYNY Fellows develop relationships with community and business leaders, connect for internships, and receive a professional development grant. This year there are 50 fellows. Student mentors are from large financial services firms, hedge funds, private equity shops (Goldman, JPMorgan, Blackstone, etc.), as well as community organizations, other companies, etc.
VISION:
Leveraging the resources of New York City, ambitious first-generation college graduates will have the support necessary to realize their full potential. Their individual and collective success will enrich the social fabric of our city, country, and world.
MISSION:
NYNY closes the opportunity gap through an intensive career development and leadership training program that enables high-potential, first-generation college students to realize their career aspirations.
TARGET POPULATION:
NYNY targets high-potential, first-generation NYC college students with the tenacity, ambition, and desire to enhance their lives and their communities. NYNY Fellows will reflect the ethnic and gender diversity of NYC. NYNY recruits high potential students in their freshman and sophomore years.
