The Sitka Fellows Program aims to incubate the talents of the intellectually, artistically, and socially entrepreneurial. It was borne of the belief that assembling diverse, perceptive minds in one place cultivates a creative energy not easily achieved in a more insular, disciplinary environment.
The program awards seven residency fellowships to promising emerging visionaries under the age of 30. Residents live for seven weeks on Sitka’s 133-year-old Sheldon Jackson Campus and are provided with studio and research space, meals, and a community environment in which they can interact with each other as well as with their neighbors. During this time, they are free to devote themselves completely to their projects.
Residents will be selected on the basis of demonstrated merit and future promise. Applicants must submit a statement of interest and an outline of proposed work during the residency—evaluators encourage focused and specific projects. Applicants of any discipline, and any age below 30, will be considered.
