The WEAI offers funding for research, language acquisition, unpaid internships, and dissertation write-up during the summer and academic year to selected Columbia students committed to professional and academic engagement with East and Southeast Asia. Eligibility varies depending on the particular funding opportunity, so please review the application materials carefully before applying. The deadline for applications is generally in late February to early March each year for projects occurring the following summer or academic year.

The deadline for summer 2012 and academic year 2012-2013 WEAI fellowships and grants will be on Friday, March 2, 2012

Intructions

1. Carefully read the descriptions of the fellowships and grants and more detailed information to determine which awards you are eligible to apply for and what application materials are required.

2. Complete and gather the following documents:

• Basic Application Form
• Grant-specific application forms
• Letters of reference, in sealed envelopes

If required, internship confirmation letters from the host organization. Only original or faxed letters will be accepted. No emails, please.

3. Place all materials in a large envelope or file folder. Materials should not have staples or paper clips.

4. Submit the hard copy application materials in person or by mail to:
