Join CCYA for one of two tours offered on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the Met).

Shady Ladies Tours is a new kind of tour company that puts the fun back into art! Guided by art scholars, their art museum tours take you to the places that other tours don’t and show you the artwork that other tours won’t, complete with the intriguing and sometimes scandalous backstories that cast them in an entirely new light.

11am - 1pm: "Nasty Women" Tour - Throughout history, there have been feisty trailblazers who make themselves heard and the Met’s walls are full of them! From an entire gallery dedicated to a female Pharaoh to paintings featuring (and donated by!) famous suffragettes, the Met has a surprisingly rich collection of women who ruled, of women who scared, of women who patronized, of women who painted, of women who politicked—of inspiration for today’s liberated woman.

2pm - 4pm: "Shady Ladies" Tour - The walls of the Met are lined with courtesans, royal mistresses, scandalous women of every sort. But who were they? How did they rise to their positions? And how did they maintain their prominence despite their scandalous reputations? Join us to find out as we explore the lives and loves that lie behind the paintings.

**This event is for Columbia College Young Alumni from 2009-2018**

Remaining tickets will open up to guests of Columbia College Young Alumni on January 20th, 2019. Tickets can be refunded up to 72 hours before the event. Email ccyoungalumni@columbia.edu with any questions.
