Screenwriter Jenji Kohan ’91 spoke to students through the Center for Student Advising’s "CSA Talks" series, a program that invites captivating scholars, thinkers, dreamers, writers and doers to share their narratives and keys to fulfillment.

Kohan began her writing career on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Her series writing credits include Mad About YouTracy Takes OnSex and the City and Gilmore Girls.  In 1999, she was honored with an Emmy Award for “Outstanding Comedy Series” for her work on Tracy Takes On.  She has developed and produced multiple pilots and series, including Showtime’s Weeds, which ran for eight seasons and garnered the Writers Guild Award for “Best Episodic Comedy” for the pilot, “You Can’t Miss The Bear.” Her latest project, Orange Is the New Black, now streams on Netflix.
