The Columbia Italian Cultural Studies in Venice summer program celebrated its 10th anniversary with a reception at the Palazzo Barbarigo della Terrazza in Venice, overlooking the Canal Grande. The reception was attended by the program’s current students and faculty, as well as representatives from Ca’ Foscari University and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection Museum in Venice, and included remarks from Johanna Fassl, associate in art history and archaeology and the program’s faculty director since its inception.

The program, which began as a single Art in Venice course, has blossomed into a collaboration among the Department of Art History and Archaeology, the Department of Italian, the Office of Global Programs, and Ca’ Foscari University, and now offers eight courses, including Intensive Elementary and Intermediate Italian, and Art History and Italian Cultural Studies courses. During the 2013–2014 academic year, 27 American students enrolled in the program - the highest in the program's history — along with 11 Italian students from Ca’ Foscari University.
