Columbia College Reunion
Beyond just entertainment, television and film continue to be powerful tools for revealing difficult truths, advocating for moral ideals and shining a light on society’s enduring challenges. The best television and film can even challenge the social order and generate productive conversation, thereby nudging us forward. The Reunion Weekend 2019 Alumni Keynote brings together classmates and friends Maggie Gyllenhaal CC’99 and Beau Willimon CC’99, SOA’03, who will discuss the risks they have taken to tell compelling stories through big, and increasingly small, screens. You’ll hear about the choices each artist has made to advance a particular vision of society, how they think about telling stories through the screen vs. the written word and how streaming entertainment affects their ability to reach the audiences ripe for their stories.
