Qatar Scholarships offer Arabic language students from the U.S. the opportunity to master their skills in an intensive Arabic language program at Qatar University in Doha for an academic year. The non-degree program is designed for those who have already developed their Arabic at the intermediate and advanced levels—students passing a proficiency exam will also have the opportunity to audit regular undergraduate courses taught in Arabic in an array of subjects.
Each scholarship provides for tuition, room and board in a university dormitory, round-trip airfare to and from Doha, local transportation, and books.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents between 18 and 40 years old who will have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree by the beginning of the program. Candidates are expected to have at least two years of formal Arabic study and be at the intermediate level of Arabic language study; they must also demonstrate strong interest in Arabic and in continued language study.
Please Note: As a part of an established agreement between George Town University and Qatar University, all Applicants from USA to the Arabic Program for Non-native Speakers should submit their application through Qatar Scholarship Program under Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at George Town University.
