Board of Visitors

The Board is an independent, self-governing body of advisors to the dean of Columbia College. Acting individually and collectively, in consultation with the dean, its members support and promote the best interests of the College, sharing high-level counsel and expertise with the dean and with one another in a spirit of mutual respect, collaboration, consultation and confidentiality.

In its work, the Board takes into account the interests of students, faculty, administrators and alumni. It is focused on a strategic level, advocating for the College among the University community, the city and the public. Representing a diverse and broad range of perspectives, the Board provides advice to the dean in identifying and addressing both immediate challenges and short- and long-term opportunities. The Board and its members serve as advocates and ambassadors to further the strategic objectives of Columbia College.
