Thinking of Warmer Days Ahead

As mist enshrouds The Thinker on a chilly night, thoughts turn to coming spring days when campus bursts into bloom and students flock outside to enjoy the warm weather. Former University President Nicholas Murray Butler (Class of 1882) commissioned the sculpture from the Musée Rodin (after sculptor Auguste Rodin’s death in 1917, his studio continued producing casts of the work) and the pensive bronze was installed on campus in 1931.
