Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand, 1957.
Relates to:
Writer Ayn Rand developed her philosophy of Objectivism in opposition to socialist viewpoints, espousing individualism, the profit motive and pure laissez-faire capitalism. Her philosophical novel, Atlas Shrugged, imagines a world in which the truly productive ‘people of the mind’ (e.g. business owners and inventors) withdraw from the thankless society that they had previously carried on their shoulders -- a kind of bosses’ strike.
