Sojourn, by Kiki Smith, 2010.
Kiki Smith's point of departure for her recent exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum was Virginia Woolf's essay "A Room of One's Own," which asserts that personal space and freedom are vital to one's creativity.
Smith created a series of spaces within the galleries to explore "the contemplative exhilaration that defines the moment of creative inspiration."
