Maria Abascal is in her last year as a Ph.D. Candidate in Sociology and Social Policy at Princeton University. Her dissertation examines the impact of Hispanic population growth on relations between Blacks and Whites in the United States. More broadly, Maria is interested in understanding patterns of intergroup relations and stratification in diverse, and diversifying, contexts. In AY 2016-2017, Maria will be completing a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship in Sociology and Population Studies at Brown University. In 2017, she will be starting as an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Columbia University.
