Two College seniors were awarded the prestigious Gates Cambridge Scholarship to pursue graduate studies at Cambridge University in England.
Emily Jordan and Caroline Robertson, two of only 37 students accepted from an applicant pool of 752, won the grants based on their studies, their leadership skills and the promise they show for improving the world through the research they will continue to do.
Jordan, a Chicago native, will continue her studies of the brain, examining compulsive behavior in rats and how it contributes to addiction. She plans to become a professor of neuroscience after earning her Ph.D.
While at Cambridge, Robertson, also from Chicago, will examine the neuroscience of autism. After earning her Ph.D., she will pursue a clinical degree so she can practice medicine and do research.
