Mamasa Dukureh

2018
Middle East, South Asian, & African Studies
Description:
Mamasa is interested in the intersections of race and ethnicity, and gender and sexuality in the areas of education and social inequality. She is particularly concerned with examining how producers of knowledge in education inflict violence upon and traumatize gendered and racialized bodies, and the role of language acquisition in gaining autonomy. As a Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies major, she hopes to use both critical race theory and post-colonial theory to explore the formation of individual identities as forms of resistance against hegemonic structures of power.
