Environmental Biology
Description:
I am interested in evolutionary biology, ecology, and the environment. I am also passionate about science writing and advocating, and environmental protection law. In high school, I worked in UPenn's Gene Therapy Lab, researching how to improve the delivery of a corrected gene to airway epithelial cells in mice using Adeno Associated Virus (AAV) with the eventual hope of correction respiratory diseases like Cystic Fibrosis. Additionally, I created ornithological phylogenetic trees based on current published research. At Columbia, I have been working in Dustin Rubenstein's lab on determining the genetic mechanisms behind the impressive nationwide adaption of the European Starling.
