Description:
Matteo is a joint Biophysics and Information Science & Healthcare major interested in bioinformatics and data engineering applied towards large scale healthcare issues. In high school, he did research regarding proteins that affect the outcome of rituximab, a Follicular Lymphoma treatment, as well research that investigated the genomics behind Albendazole drug success in defeating parasitic infections within humans. This past summer, he worked in the Stupp Laboratory at Northwestern University, developing an imaging technique to better characterize cell-substrate interactions on artificial self assembling extracellular matrices (peptide amphiphile fibers) in order to better engineer these substrates as to promote cell growth and differentiation.
