Yang examined a variety of genes across the genome in Down syndrome and control human brain and T cell and mice T cell DNA samples for their methylation pattern. Bisulfite sequencing was used to show the patterns of methylation on each DNA molecule. DNA methylation is known for its role in altering gene expression.
