Morphology and Circuitry of VIP interneurons in Mice: I am working on analyzing the anatomical features and connectivity of VIP interneurons and more specifically double-bouquet cells in the mouse cortex. Both characteristics require 3D reconstructions of the stained neurons to allow statistical analysis. Studying the properties of these VIP inhibitory interneurons is very important for understanding how the cortical circuits are arranged and what their functions are. These answers will be useful in the study of the human cortical circuitry as well.
