Kayla has conducted nanobiotechnology research at Stony Brook University under the Simons Summer Research Fellowship Program and the Students and Scientists Environmental Research Scholarship Program. Kayla is a coauthor of a peer review journal article entitled "Cell Specific Cytotoxicity and Uptake of Graphene Nanoribbons” published in Biomaterials, and has received a legislative resolution for achievement in science research from the New York State Senate. She has recently worked in the Reizis group in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at CUMC on DNASE1L3 knockout mice as a model for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.
