Description:
My current interests include topics surrounding microbiology, immunology, and pathology. I enjoy pursuing research endeavors that delve into these areas of interest. In the past, I have worked on research that resulted in the creation of microsatellite primers for two threatened species of orchid in Florida. I am currently participating in research focused on identifying the molecular factors the underlie the progression from colonization to infection in Staphylococcus aureus. Methods used to answer this question include spa-PCR, whole genome sequencing, and cytotoxicity assays. Through these measures, a more complete understanding of the pathogenic nature of MRSA strains is hoped to be achieved.
