Birth of Feminism from the Guerilla Girls’ Compleat 1985 - 2008.

This is a satirical movie poster imaging a film called “The Birth of Feminism.”  It has a picture of three scantily-clad women holding a sign that says, “Equality Now,” and claims to have Pamela Anderson starring as Gloria Steinem, Halle Berry as Flo Kennedy, and Catherine Zeta Jones as Bella Abzug.  At the bottom it says, “They made women’s rights look good.  Really good.”  Though dealing with a different era, this can be seen as continuous with Wollstonecraft’s concern about the reduction of women to their physical appeal and the incompatibility of that with feminist aims.
