Blinding of Polyphemos, Laconian Black Figure Cup, c. 540 BCE.
This image is found in the interior of a drinking cup. After having finished his wine, the drinker is therefore confronted with a monster being literally blinded with too much drink.
The painter has tried to capture three moments of the story at the same time: Odysseus offers the wine to Polyphemus; the Cyclops eats one of Odysseus' companions and is holding his remains -- two legs; finally, Odysseus blinds the Cyclops.
