An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding

David Hume

1711 CE – 1776 CE

David Hume (originally ‘David Home’) is perhaps the greatest of all English-language philosophers. His work not only had a profound effect on writers as influential as Immanuel Kant, Charles Darwin and Adam Smith, but it also exists as a seminal contribution to the project of developing a naturalistic philosophy, itself of great importance to the direction of western thought.
