Pomegranate

Relates to:

In the Hymn to Demeter, Persephone tastes a pomegranate and is bound to Hades and the underworld for one third of the year.

In many world religions, including in ancient Greece, the pomegranate was considered sacred. In Christian art it was used to symbolize the resurrection and the eternal life; in paintings it is often held by the Christ child in depictions of the Virgin and Child.
