2011 Core Scholars

We are proud to announce our inaugural Core Scholars. Our winners offer dramatic, beautiful, insightful, and sometimes hilarious reflections on the Core.

The Core Scholars Program is designed to analyze, question, dramatize, interpret, and (of course) reflect on the materials of the Core Curriculum. Its goals are to heighten understanding of Core topics, explore connections among Core works, and relate the Core to our contemporary world.

Congratulations to our 2011 Core Scholars!

Christia Mercer, Chair of Literature Humanities
Roosevelt Montas, Center for the Core Curriculum

Thank you from the Core Scholars Committee

As Chair and Vice-Chair of the Core Scholars Committee, we would like to thank each of the 98 students who created Core Reflections. The diverse and insightful array of stories, songs, poems, essays, dances, and videos submitted made choosing just four prize-winners a truly difficult task.

We would also like to express our sincerest gratitude to the dedicated students who shared their insights with us on the first Core Scholars Committee:

Rachel Field
Lia Friedman
Alexander Lewis
Veronica Mittnacht
Artemis Shaw
Erin Stahmer
Jonathan Tanners

All of us offer our congratulations to the 2011 Core Scholars.
