The Herbert Deresiewicz Summer Research Fellowship will provide support for a Columbia College, Barnard College, or School of Engineering and Applied Sciences undergraduate student to engage in full-time laboratory research in the Columbia University Departments of Biological Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.  The Fellowship recipient will receive a stipend of $7,500.

The Freeman Indonesia Nonprofit Internship Program (FINIP) aims to develop student leaders and strengthen the nonprofit sector in Indonesia. IIE will select and pair 10 Indonesian students pursuing U.S. degrees with 10 U.S. undergraduates and arrange internships for them to work together in an Indonesian nonprofit organization.

Five alumni who have excelled in their careers each will be presented a 2011 John Jay Award for distinguished professional achievement on Wednesday, March 2, at the annual John Jay Awards Dinner.

This year’s honorees are Andrew Barth ’83, president, Capital Guardian Trust; Alexander Navab ’87, partner and co-head of North American Private Equity, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.; Kenneth Ofori-Atta ’84, executive chairman and co-founder, Databank Financial Services; Michael Oren ’77, Israeli ambassador to the United States; and Elizabeth D. Rubin ’87, a journalist.
