Fifteen College students
recently were treated to an inside look at the United Nations,
thanks to Fernando Ortiz ’79, international lawyer
with the U.N. Department of Peacekeeping Operations. Ortiz,
assisted by his wife, Ofelia, also a U.N. official, led
the students on a private tour of the U.N.’s facilities
in New York on March 5. Students sat in the Security Council
chamber as Ortiz explained the way the organization operates.
The event was part of the Living-Learning Center’s
annual programming.
