Each fall, hundreds of alumni from schools across the University return to campus for Leaders Weekend to connect with other passionate volunteers within the Columbia community, share skills and learn more about initiatives that help keep our Alma Mater at the forefront of education and of the world at large.
From medalists to panelists, speakers to moderators, Columbia College Alumni were showcased throughout this year's Leaders Weekend: October 7-9, 2016. Sheena Wright CC’90, LAW’94, president and CEO of United Way of New York City, kicked off the series with a Keynote Presentation about her journey to Columbia from the South Bronx and the importance of education and service that her mother instilled in her at a very young age.
University Board of Trustees chair Jonathan Schiller CC’69, LAW’73 joined President Bollinger on stage at Roone Arledge Auditorium during the Alumni Leaders Luncheon, and career coach Eric Horwitz CC’90 joined product strategy analyst Allison Bajger CC’07, GSAS’12, ’13, ’14 for a session on creating and amplifying your personal brand presence in the digital atmosphere. Gairy Hall CC’11, BUS’16, president of Columbia College Young Alumni, moderated a panel for alumni titled “Legacy Through Leadership” with current student leaders from Columbia College Student Council, the Asian American Alliance, Black Students’ Organization, Student Organization of Latinos and Columbia Women in Business Society.
The weekend topped off Saturday night in Low Memorial Library with the Alumni Medalist Gala, celebrating the highest honor bestowed to alumni by the University and awarded by the Columbia Alumni Association (CAA) for distinguished service of 10 years or more to the University. This year’s recipients included Columbia College Alumni:
