Columbia College

Why Give?

Parent giving provides essential resources for the Core Curriculum, student life, internships and financial aid — all fundamental aspects of the first-rate undergraduate experience that defines Columbia College.

The Columbia College Parents Fund measures its success both in terms of participation — how many parents, alumni and friends make a gift each year — as well as in total dollars raised. Thus every gift, no matter the size, will make an impact.

Parent giving translates into immediate support for the College's most pressing areas of need. You can make your gift to the Columbia College Fund or designate your support to any of the following areas:

The Core Curriculum

The Core Curriculum, the hallmark of a Columbia College education, binds all College students and alumni by laying the groundwork for lifelong learning and critical thinking. Parent giving helps to strengthen and sustain the Core Curriculum, which offers a comprehensive academic experience exploring various texts, documents and exemplary experiments in literature, philosophy, history, music, art and science.

Student Life

Student Life provide opportunities and experiences that assist and advise students, both inside and outside of the classroom, allowing the College to complement its rigorous academic experience. Parent giving supports the College’s broad range of student activities, advising services, career resources and extracurricular programs.

Financial Aid

Financial aid makes it possible for deserving students to attend the College. Thanks to the generosity of alumni, family and friends of the College, more than $150 million of institutional aid reached 50 percent of students last year. Parent giving helps the College maintain a steadfast commitment to attracting the most promising students, regardless of family income, and provide qualified students with the resources they need to access the full scope of academic opportunities at the College.

Internships

Internships enable students to sharpen their skills, providing them with professional development and real-world experience. Parent giving allows students to undertake high-quality unpaid internships without financial burden in New York , throughout the United States, and around the world.
