Join a conversation between authors Esinam Bediako CC05 and Julie Satow CC96, SIPA01, for a discussion on Blood on the Brain, Bediako's award-winning coming-of-age novel about Akosua, a 24-year-old Ghanaian-American woman who experiences a life-altering head injury. Akosua is spiraling. She’s too distracted by recent chaos — a breakup, her estranged father’s return from Ghana and nearly flunking out of grad school — to take the injury seriously. Instead, she dives into a new romance with Daniel — a “good Ghanaian man” — while her symptoms worsen.

Blood on the Brain explores themes of memory, history, and the complexities of culture and identity. It is a vibrant, bittersweet story about family, culture and how self-discovery can feel like a blow to the head.

All alumni and students are invited to this free event. You can purchase a copy of Blood on the Brain on IndiePubs. Get 20 percent off using the promo code CCWALUM at checkout.
