Associate Curator Emily Beeny CC’05, GSAS ‘16, brings the J. Paul Getty Museum’s Manet and Modern Beauty exhibition to your living room with this engaging talk that will bring you back to your ArtHum days.

Focusing on the nineteenth-century French painter Édouard Manet, this talk will explore the work he produced during the last years of his life.

Manet’s “late” pictures—of stylish women and bouquets, of suburban gardens and Parisian cafes—put a smiling face on a period of acute physical suffering. Painted during the artist’s long and painful illness, these pictures sparkle with an insistent—perhaps even defiant—sense of life.
