Mini-Core Curriculum Courses

The Columbia College Alumni Association implemented the first Core Curriculum mini-course program in January 2007, allowing College alumni to revisit Core Curriculum topics from their undergraduate years.

This exciting program encourages dialogue between several generations of Columbia alumni and offers each participant a new perspective on an enduring topic.

How it works

Alumni in the New York metropolitan area receive e-mail invitations with course descriptions for three Core Curriculum classes: Literature Humanities, Contemporary Civilizations and Art Humanities or Music Humanities.

Each class consists of three sessions held once every other week on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Generous alumni host mini-courses in their Midtown offices and provide snacks and beverages. Midtown locations allow those who work in the city, but are not able to make it to evening campus events, to attend.

Class space is limited so as to create an intimate setting that inspires discourse and debate reminiscent of the undergraduate Core Curriculum.
