In this interactive drawing workshop, participants will be introduced to the prolific American artist, Sol LeWitt, as an entry-point into creating their own work. Taking inspiration from LeWitt's series of Wall Drawings, the workshop will consider both the conceptual and material qualities that define the medium of drawing. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own drawings based on LeWitt’s now-famous "certificates," interpreting these text-based instructions with their own hand. No prior drawing experience is required-- all are welcome! The only materials needed are paper and a pencil or pen. This program is co-presented with the Wallach Art Gallery and will be led by teaching artist Julia Rooney with an introduction by Jennifer Mock, associate director of Education and Public Programs.
