Class Day Speakers Implore Class of 2017 To Take Action
Class of 2017 Class Day speaker Sheena Wright CC’90, LAW’94 drew cheers from the 1,172 members of the graduating class, as well as from their family and friends, and alumni, with her advice on how to navigate what lies ahead.

On May 16, with picture-perfect early-morning weather, the 1,172 members of the Class of 2017 gathered on South Lawn for the 259th Columbia College Class Day. The newest members of the Columbia College Alumni Association (CCAA) were cheered on by family, friends, alumni, faculty and administrators.
Bill Condon's "Beauty and the Beast" Rules the Box Office
Screenwriter and director William "Bill" Condon CC'76 is making headlines with his remake of Beauty and the Beast, which stars Emma Watson and Kevin Kline and took in a two-week domestic total of approximately $317 million by the end of March. The Disney musical has already reaped $1 billion worldwide. Condon, who graduated with a degree in philosophy has written and directed several other critically acclaimed films.

Sheena Wright CC’90, President and CEO of United Way of New York City, Named Class Day Speaker
Columbia College is pleased to announce that Sheena Wright CC’90, LAW’94, president and CEO of United Way of New York City (UWNYC), which seeks to improve the lives of low-income New Yorkers, will deliver the keynote address at the 2017 Columbia College Class Day ceremony. The annual event, which honors graduating seniors, will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, on the South Lawns of Columbia’s Morningside Heights campus.
